Family Program Features Feathered Friends

Calling all bird lovers! The Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum during its Second Saturday Family Fun program on Saturday, March 10 will explore the question of “Why do Birds Take Baths?” Families are invited to the history museum classroom, 225 N. Cache from 11:00 a.m. to noon. This is the third family program offered by museum staff this winter.

Featured storyteller is Claudia Rector, a wildlife biologist from Alaska. Children and their families will learn a bit about bird behavior, including why they bathe. Then, to make their backyards more inviting, class participants will decorate a birdbath with ceramic tiles. Make a splash on behalf of your feathered friends and attend this program!

Upcoming Second Saturday programs will be held on April 14—decorating and planting a mini greenhouse in preparation for spring, and May 12—learning about American Indians and sewing a pair of moccasins. All programs include storytelling.

Suggested donation is $5 per child or $10 per family. Child must be accompanied by an adult(s). Please contact Brenda Roberts, 733-2414, for more information.
