Walk in an Indian’s Shoes: Family Program

Children and their families are invited to take part in an exciting program, “Walk in an Indian’s Shoes” on Saturday, May 12 from 11:00am to noon in the history museum classroom.  Following the sharing of native stories, children will sew a pair of moccasins with their parents’ help. American Indian music will accompany the “soleful” activity. PRE-REGISTRATION is REQUIRED in order to determine shoe sizes needed for moccasin materials. Cost is $10 per child or pair of moccasins. Child must be accompanied by an adult(s).

This is the final family program offered by museum staff this spring.

Children’s programs continue this summer. Beginning June 19, the history museum hosts Terrific Tuesday programs geared for children going into kindergarten through fourth grades. These hour-long programs are akin to a mini-summer camp, include a history-themed activity, and are also held at 11:00 a.m. in the museum’s classroom. Terrific Tuesday classes are $5 per child or $10 per family. Adult participation is not necessary but pre-registration is required due to class limit of 15.
