Saturday, December 3, “Christmas Crafts for Children and Families,” 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. families make traditional Christmas ornaments. Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum classroom, 225 N. Cache. Free. 

Sunday, December 4, “Christmas Kick-Off at the History Museum,” the grand opening of the holiday-decorated museum exhibition. Free admission from 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. Refreshments. 

Wednesday, December 7, “Olde Tyme Christmas and Winter Celebration,” local storytellers and musicians. 7 p.m.,JacksonRoom, Wort Hotel. Members admitted free, $5 for non-members, memberships available at door. Refreshments. 

Friday, December 9, “Wildlife on the Wind,” presentation and book signing by biologist and author Bruce L. Smith. It begins at 7 p.m. in the history museum classroom. Members admitted free, $5 for non-members, memberships available at the door. The program is co-sponsored by the Wyoming Humanities Council’s Humanity Forum. Refreshments provided. 

Saturday, December 10, “A Mardy Murie Christmas,” Murie Center, Grand Teton National Park. Ski or snowshoe 2- 4:30. Bring a dozen cookies and recipe copies to free “Cookie Swap” and program, 4:30 p.m. To RSVP call 307-739-2246.  History museum and MurieCenter co-sponsored.

History MuseumKicks Off a Week of Family Fun! 

The Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum is pleased to announce a week of family fun that kicks-off a festive holiday season beginning December 3. There is something for everyone in the history museum’s round-up of events and programs: making ornaments, holiday exhibition grand opening, winter and Christmas storytelling and music, an author wildlife program, and a skiing and cookie swap event. In addition, look for ads highlighting weekly specials at the museum store, just in time for special Christmas purchases. 

On Saturday, December 3, “Christmas Crafts for Children and Families” is slated for 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Parents and their children are invited to make traditional Christmas ornaments in the museum classroom, 225 N. Cache, at 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum staff and volunteers will provide materials and assistance for creating several different ornaments. Children and parents may take home some ornaments; others will decorate trees in the museum which can be viewed the next day.

Sunday, December 4, is the Christmas Kick-Off at the History Museum,” the grand opening of the holiday-decorated museum exhibition. Free admission is offered that day between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. Several theme-based holiday trees feature handmade ornaments and artifacts from the history museum collection—a festive display not to be missed.Holiday traditions are shared by many local residents in the form of stories gathered by volunteers Jackie Montgomery, Loretta Scott, and Happy Weston. Refreshments are provided. 

Wednesday, December 7, is “Olde Tyme Christmas and Winter Celebration,” an annual program featuring local storytellers and musicians. The program begins at 7 p.m. in theJacksonRoom of the Wort Hotel. Members are admitted free, $5 admission for non-members, and memberships are available at the door. The program is held in partnership with the Wort Hotel. Refreshments are provided. 

On Friday, December 9, a special presentation, “Wildlife on the Wind,” is given by biologist and author Bruce L. Smith. It begins at 7 p.m. in the history museum classroom. Members are admitted free, $5 admission for non-members, and memberships are available at the door. The program is co-sponsored by the Wyoming Humanities Council’s Humanity Forum. Book signing after the program. Refreshments are provided. 

Saturday, December 10, marks the third annual “A Mardy Murie Christmas,” an afternoon of fun in Grand Teton National Park for the entire family. Held in collaboration with the Murie Center, families are encouraged to ski or snowshoe beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Murie Center. Bring a dozen cookies and recipe copies to share during the famous “Cookie Swap.” Program and cookie swap begins at 4:30 p.m., ending at 6:00 p.m. More details to be announced.
