Homeschool Lessons
This May, we are offering three homeschool lessons to two different age groups at the Jackson Hole History Museum for families who want extra hands-on learning, socialization, and most of all – local history!
All the lessons will be in the gallery and classroom at the museum. The cost is $12/student ($10 per child if multiple children are enrolled as a group rate) , including entry to the museum and the specific lesson. Chaperons are not required but are invited to join free of charge. The Front Desk will collect payment on the day of the class – cash or credit card.
Ideally, students ages 6 to 9 would enroll in junior classes, and students aged 10 to 14 would enroll in senior classes.
Monday, May 12 | Junior 10-11 am | senior 11:30-12:30
Morse Code – These lessons will feature authentic vinyl records from Allied Radio to learn about the how of Morse Code, also accompanied by the why, and then give students the opportunity to try out their new skills with interactive games!
Tuesday, may 13 | junior 11-12 | senior 1-2 pm
How World War II Changed Jackson Hole – these lessons will look not at the war directly but at its aftermath specifically in Jackson and the impact to our recreation activities, and then let students create evidence of these changes creating rafts or skis out of clay.
monday, may 19 | junior 11-12 | senior 1-2 pm
Cursive Clues – these lessons will give an introduction to reading cursive, an increasingly important skill in museum work, and then allow students to practice their decipher skills as they complete a scavenger hunt around the galleries!
