Museum receives national AIA Interior Architecture Award

Museum receives AIA interior design award

with HGA architects and prospect studio

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) awarded the Jackson Hole History Museum and HGA Architects with local partner Prospect Studio the national 2026 Interior Architecture Award.

According to the AIA, the award honors the best in interior architecture and design and celebrates architecture’s most innovative and spectacular interior spaces. It recognizes that impressive building interiors make their mark on the cities, places, and spaces where we live and work.

“The Jackson Hole History Museum is honored to receive national recognition for our interior spaces. Every aspect of the Museum was thoughtfully designed around how our community would use it. We incorporated community input, flexible educational and gathering spaces, two historic cabins, and much more. To see a space designed so intentionally for our community recognized on a national level is incredibly meaningful,” said Executive Director Morgan Jaouen.

HGA Architects noted that the integration of a three-story museum, historic cabins, and outdoor spaces on a quarter-acre downtown site required careful structural and systems coordination. Flexible exhibition galleries were designed to increase museum-goers interaction, while creating long-term adaptability to rotate collections. Ultimately, the interdisciplinary work that went into making the space function well results in a seamless experience that feels rooted in local history.

The Jackson Hole History Museum also recently received the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museum’s 2026 Buildy Award and was selected as one of six national projects for the Wall Street Journal’s review “The Best Architecture of 2025: Place Over Pizazz.” Locally, voters awarded the Museum with a Best of Jackson Hole Silver Award in the Best Museum/Visitor Center category.
