History Jackson Hole welcomes author Evan Griffith and guest panelists Carmie and Janet Cook, Sam Neiman, Nancy Shea, Jared Smith and more for Beers & Banter: The Murie Legacy in Jackson Hole on Thursday, August 29 at 7 p.m. on the Rooftop Deck at the Jackson Hole History Museum.
Guest panelists will talk about their experiences with the Muries including Nancy Shea who served as the Executive Director of the Murie Center, Jared Smith who grew up knowing the Muries and served on the Murie Center Board, current Murie Center docents Carmie and Janet Cook, and more.
Panelist Evan Griffith is the author of Wild at Heart: The Story of Olaus and Mardy Murie, Defenders of Nature illustrated by Anna Bron and just published this month. The book for ages 6 to 9 years old, tells the personal story of Olaus and Mardy, as well as their journey to create the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Griffith will also give a Family Book Reading bagels & banter on the morning of August 29 at 11 am at the Jackson Hole History Museum.
Beers and Banter will be moderated by Education Director Catherine Maguire and follow an informal, conversational format. At the end, the audience can ask questions of the panelists.
The event is free and open to the public beginning when doors open at 6:30 p.m. Beverages are available for a donation. Early arrival suggested; limited capacity on the Museum’s Rooftop Deck at 175 East Broadway Avenue in downtown Jackson.
