Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Free History Museum admission 10a – 5p

Celebrate national Indigenous Peoples’ Day on Monday, October 13, with free admission to the Jackson Hole History Museum and activities for all ages. This event is funded by a grant from the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole.

Since the Jackson Hole History Museum is normally closed on Mondays, it’s also a rare opportunity to kick off the week with some local history.

Enjoy highlighted museum artifacts not usually on exhibit including Native American cradleboards from Arapaho, Paiute, and Shoshone tribes, as well as a Plains Indian toy cradleboard.  The Main Gallery will feature a special, one-day scavenger hunt designed for the celebration.

Upstairs the PBS documentary Arapaho Truths will be showing in the Marion W. Buchenroth Classroom, and an Indigenous book display will encourage reading. Kids and creative adults can get crafty with a porcupine quillwork-inspired hands-on activity.
