“Christmas Crafts” and “Christmas Kick-Off”

“Christmas Crafts” and “Christmas Kick-Off” at the History Museum

The Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum is hosting a free family program on Saturday, December 3, “Christmas Crafts for Children and Families.” Two ornament-making sessions are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Parents and their children are invited to make traditional Christmas ornaments together in the museum classroom, 225 N. Cache.HistoryMuseum staff and volunteers provide materials and assistance for creating several different ornaments. Decorated snowmen, thread spool, blue-jean, and pinecone ornaments will add cheer to holiday decorations at home or will make great gifts. Children and parents may take home some ornaments; others will decorate trees in the museum which can be viewed the next day.

Sunday, December 4, “Christmas Kick-Off at the History Museum” is the grand opening of the holiday-decorated museum exhibition. Free admission is offered that day between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. Several theme-based holiday trees feature handmade ornaments and artifacts from the history museum collection. This festive and creative exhibition was primarily the inspiration of volunteer and past board member Marilynn Mullikin, assisted by other volunteers and staff.Holiday memories from local people were gathered by volunteers Jackie Montgomery, Loretta Scott, and Happy Weston, and their stories hang throughout the museum. Refreshments are provided.

This is also an opportunity to begin Christmas shopping by visiting the museum store. The store features unique handmade local items for everyone on your list. There will be special weekly sales in the store throughout December. Remember that members of the Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum get a 10% discount.
