Summer volunteer opportunities

It’s hard to believe that it is spring again, and with it comes the History Museum’s preparations for a very busy summer season!

The number one way that we are successful in our endeavors is due to our many enthusiastic volunteers. We take nothing for granted – each season we appeal to all of our members and friends, both old and new, to consider helping your Museum thrive.

If you have helped us in the past and wish to do so again, we welcome your continued support! If you have never volunteered before and want to give it your serious consideration, now is the time to review our list of opportunities and give it a try! (Training is always provided until you feel comfortable and confident in whatever you decide to do.)

Here are some of the ways we can use your help:

Museum gallery docents – welcome visitors to the Museum and share some of the background about the exhibits, answering some of the questions visitors may have.

Retail store staff – assist with sales in the retail shop, using the register, cleaning and straightening, and stocking as needed.

Walking Tour guides – lead one-hour tours around the Town Square, sharing the stories of Jackson Hole with our summer visitors.

Special programs – present one-hour history programs on an as-requested basis for small groups of visitors.

Volunteer hosts – assist in a variety of ways on June 20-23 as the Jackson Hole Historical Society & Museum hosts the Wyoming State Historical Society for their annual Trek Weekend right here in Jackson Hole!

You can volunteer as much or as little as you want; remember, every hour you can give helps your Museum and its small, but dedicated, staff achieve our goals for the summer of 2014.

Our season begins Memorial Day weekend and runs through the last weekend in September. We now have both Museum locations open during the summer seven days a week. Hours are 10 am until 6 pm Monday thru Saturday and from 1pm ‘til 5pm on Sundays.
