Mercill Archaeology Center Public Preview

Do you like digging in the dirt? Learning about prehistoric people in the Tetons? The Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum is excited to offer two FREE public sneak peeks of the new Mercill Archaeology Center located at 105 Mercill. Come take a look on Sunday, July 27 from 10am – 4pm, or on Tuesday, July 29 from 4pm – 7 pm. A range of activities for the whole family will be offered including a mock archaeological dig, a wander through our trading post and Shoshone style tipi, and many other hands-on activities. See an atlatl throwing demonstration, smell some stinky rawhide glue, and see how archaeologists tell stories from ancient artifacts.

The mock dig will run at 10:30, 12:30, 2:00, and 3:00 on Sunday, and 4:30 and 5:30 on Tuesday. All ages are welcome and digging sessions will be 30 minutes in length and limited to 15 people at a time.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.
